  Periodontium of Pediatric Patients versus General Anesthetics

  Introduction: Propofol and sevoflurane as two general anesthetics with different characteristics, in this study they are placed opposite each other to highlight their characteristics and to see what changes in clinical signs or periodontal index values they bring to pediatric patients who undergo different surgical treatments. This is part of the purpose of this study. Materials and methods: Depending on the general anesthesia applied before the various surgical procedures, the reason for which the pediatric patients were presented to the clinic, and after the verbal consent obtained from the accompanying parents, they were subjected to the measurement of the proposed amount of saliva. These values were accurately measured before the intervention and after the intervention at predetermined moments of the day, not having the possibility to be influenced by the circadian increase in saliva production. The gingival health evaluation index, divided into fixed, marginal or papillary gingiva according to the PMA index, was precisely the most suitable index for this type of study. Results: The PMA index according to the value for the marginal gingiva showed deterioration of the periodontal health affecting also the reduction of salivary flow, in cases of propofol application. There is a minimal increase in saliva production in cases of application of sevoflurane as a general anesthetic for surgical treatments. Hypo and hypersalivation appear in a 1:1 ratio with cases of normal saliva production in pediatric patients. Conclusions: The effect of propofol in cases of general anesthetic application appears in the deterioration of oral and periodontal health of pediatric patients. Sevoflurane increases the production of saliva, positively influencing the periodontal status of the patient who has undergone surgical intervention.

  Abstract
  The study mainly examines the prevalence and trend of hypertension among elderly persons in Kampala. The study adopts a cross – sectional research design. The study collected both quantitative and qualitative information. Data was collected from 151 respondents at Kiruddu Referral Hospital and six key informants at a single point in time. Quantitative data analysis was done using SPSS while qualitative analysis was done using Jamovi and thematic approach. Findings show that majority (87%) of respondents reported that the rate of hypertension is high among the elderly persons. The study also observed that hypertension is a leading killer disease among elderly persons and is further responsible for disabilities, stroke, heart disease, and kidney failure. Therefore the study concludes by suggesting that there is need for a life course approach to hypertension prevention and also there is need to create awareness about hypertension amidst other several hypertension reduction approaches.

  A Paradigm for Efficient Security of Information System Control in Healthcare Organizations in Nigeria

  Organizations in the healthcare industry place a high priority on information security. In the healthcare industry, the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and patient data are regarded as particularly sensitive information. In order to safeguard healthcare records from potential security risks in healthcare organizations, this study examined the present countermeasures in use and the ways in which employers disseminated information regarding the availability of information security countermeasures. This study has chosen to use a qualitative research methodology. The adage that "the nature of the research problem ought to be determined by the choice of the research method" seems deceptively straightforward. The population of the study consists of 564 workers at the Katsina General Hospital. The researchers have created an interview guide that covers eleven pertinent questions for four categories of staff, including 5 IT personnel, 15 doctors, 15 nurses, and 5 management staff/administrators in all three general hospitals located in the study areas, in order to meet the requirements for responding to the research questions. A conceptual framework has been developed to facilitate the investigation of information security countermeasures in healthcare companies in relation to knowledge sharing among employers. The results of the case study showed that employers only partially implement deterrent, organizational, and preventative countermeasures and that there is a lack of knowledge sharing about the existence of information security countermeasures among employers. Employers` unwillingness to share their information has been attributed to a number of issues, including behavior, a lack of security awareness, personality differences, top management commitment, and a lack of knowledge sharing among employers.

  Library and Information System (LIS) serves as the foundation for various domains, but developing effective reading habits pose challenges and complexities. Despite this, no analysis has been conducted to examine the impact of the library and information system on the reading habits of youth in the Ukhrul district. To address this gap, this study aims to identify factors influencing the accessibility of the library and information system, as well as raise awareness among youth and local officials, bureaucrats, and institutes about their roles and responsibilities in establishing a competent information system. Primary data was collected through questionnaire distribution, and the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) was used to analyze the data and draw constructive conclusions. The study gathered responses from 183 participants, and the results provide valuable insights to achieve the objectives. The data was analyzed using descriptive analysis techniques, as well as the formulation and testing of hypotheses for significance (P-value). The findings of the study underscore the significance of Library and Information System (LIS) in fostering reading habits among young people and encouraging their visits to libraries. The study proposes that the state should provide comprehensive support, including necessary resources and facilities, to LIS and public libraries. Furthermore, it emphasizes the importance of LIS in preserving traditional forms of education, such as folk songs, tales, and drawings, which hold valuable and often forgotten information. Creating spaces within LIS to practice and uphold these traditional educational practices is crucial.

  Abstract
  An electronic information resource is any information source that the library provides access to users in an electronic format. These electronic information resources can be accessed via computer and other devices as much as an electronic network is available. The objective of the study was to assess techniques used by the university to manage electronic information resources in the library. To achieve the proposed objective cross sectional survey was used. To collect the data the researcher designed and distributed the questionnaire for respondents. From the 336 total population, 40 numbers of respondents were selected randomly. This study contributed to the library users, researchers, and curriculum developers finding out the problems with materials, services, and users in the Jimma University library system. The future development and success of academic libraries depend greatly on how they embrace technology in their operation mainly in the management of electronic resources. The librarians used the ABCD and Dspace software for the interlibrary management of electronic information resources in the library. The users can access the collection of electronic information resources in the library and remotely through the campus network. The SPSS software version 20.0 was used for data analysis.

  Abstract
  K-shell fluorescence yield for a few low Z elements taken from the database compiled by Kahoul (2012) is studied. Ratio of radiative transition width to radiationless transition width in the atom of the K-shell is estimated. Z dependence of the ratio of the transition widths is tabulated and compared for experimental, theoretical and semi-empirical fit values as reported. The uncertainty in the present work is attributed to the uncertainty in the values of fluorescence yield for K-shell. In the present work we have studied the predominance of Auger process in the electron rearrangement mechanism in the excited atoms in the low Z elements.

  Abstract
  The legislative arm of government was created primarily to formulate laws and check the activities of the executive arm. However, in Nigeria, these functions have over the years been inefficiently executed and riddled with undue bias, to the detriment of Nigerians. With the steady increase in the number of internet users in the country, this project proposes a solution which leverages technology to allow the populace vote on key issues in the National Assembly. A web-based consensus system was developed, which will optimize the law-making process by providing a platform for citizens to vote on proposed bills and policies. Also, the preferential voting system was adopted. It involves the ranking of options in an order of preference. For an option to be selected, it must achieve an absolute majority, which is at least 50% of the total formal votes. This helps to ensure that selected option represents the true mind of the citizens. The Waterfall methodology was adopted in designing this application. The system was designed using HTML and JavaScript, while SQL was used to implement the database.

  Abstract
  Electromagnetic fields (EMFs) can affect avian reproductive biology and physiology, so exposure to them has become a concern. The purpose of this review is to summarize current research on EMFs and avian reproduction. Various reproductive processes, like sperm quality, egg production, and embryo development, have been shown to be affected by EMFs. In addition, EMFs can affect avian hormones. However, we don`t know exactly how EMFs do this. This review highlights the need for more research on EMFs and avian reproduction.

  Abstract
  Underground coal gasification is an example of a modern, innovative technology that is used to extract the coal for underground as a product of methane gas or syngas. The board and pillar method is a traditional approach. Using the board and pillar method, a non-negotiable amount of coal is lost in the goaf area. We propose to use underground coal gasification in addition to bord and pillar for a working or closed unstowing coal mine as a solution for the previously mentioned problem and for optimal production with minimal cost, time, and labor.

  Soil Piping Analyses in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State, Nigeria using both Electromagnetic and Magnetic Geophysical Techniques

  Abstract
  Among the many uses of the non-invasive geophysical techniques in studying the phenomena associated with tunnel erosions and soil pipings, the Very Low Frequency Electromagnetic (VLF-EM) and the magnetic techniques have witness little or no considerations. The reasons for these non-considerations have not been fully proven literally. Thus, this study will attempt to use VLF-EM and magnetic techniques to investigate the characteristic of the spatial distribution of soil pipes in an actively loose erosive soil at Awka, Anambra state, Nigeria that is geological located at (6.02220N and 7.0821E). The VLF-EM surveyed a profile length of 200m with an interstation spacing of 5m using an Abem Waldi VLF-EM meter. The magnetic surveyed was done with portable proton precision magnetometer, the survey was carried out on 9 different profiles with grid lines of 18, 2m x 2m squares. The VLF-EM results show that the subsurface of the study areas have unusual low conductivities ranging from -10mhos to 3mhos, which are very much different from the normal ground values. These unusual low conductivities have been interpreted as soil pipes as they almost coincides with the location of the soil pipes holes in the surface of the study areas. The result of the magnetic survey was achieved by using a diurnal corrected anomaly generated from the field. This shows that low magnetic susceptibility ranging from -124.4 to -300nT (taking the range of the two study areas) have been built up in the subsurface and are predominately in the southwestern region, where most of the soil pipes are located in the surveyed areas.
